So, the trend over the past few years has been dreamy outdoor weddings where us photographers can take advantage of wide open shade or beautiful golden hour light. Definitely every photographers’ dream!
However, I’m starting to see a subtle shift to night time weddings. These weddings have their ceremonies at sunset and then the reception is in a tent or outdoor space in very very low light (or in the dark).
So, can we still take pictures in the dark? Of course! But, remember, you are NOT going to get the same “look” as you would with weddings photographed during the daytime. And that’s totally okay! As long as you know what to expect, we love shooting in different lighting scenarios.
We will probably use much more flash than we normally do, but we will still try to be subtle.
We highly recommend doing a “first look” for weddings that take place at night, so that we can take your bride & groom portraits during the beautiful glow of the sun that is lowering in the sky. But, that being said, we are always up for a challenge, and can rock out some portraits in the dark, too!
What do you think about the increasing trend of night time weddings? Love it? Hate it? Never thought about it? Leave us a comment below!
