You've hired awesome wedding photographers who provide you with an heirloom quality wedding album. You've carefully helped them design your perfect album, and it just arrived in the mail.
Now what? How should you care for your wedding photo album?
If properly cared for, your wedding album should last for generations to come. So, follow these quick tips, or contact Martha at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info on how to take care of your wedding heirloom album!
PROPER TEMP & HUMIDITY
Don't expose your book to extreme changes in temp (or humidity). Extreme changes in temperature or humidity (for example keeping your album out in your car in the middle of winter and then coming inside to a heated room) can cause the pages to expand and contract, warping the pages. The ideal storage conditions to keep your wedding album are temperatures between 55° and 85° F and humidity between 5% to 60%. Don't store your album in a basement where it gets super humid --- this again, may cause warping of the pages.
Also avoid storing your album in direct sunlight. In addition to damaging the pages of the book, direct sunlight may also damage the cover and binding regardless of what material it is made out of.
CLEANING YOUR ALBUM
To keep the the pages (and cover) of your album looking as pristine and crisp as they did on day one, you’ll want to clean and maintain your album appropriately. Dust as needed with a soft, dry cloth and when necessary, remove dirt gently with a damp cloth.
STORING YOUR ALBUM
*LAY YOUR ALBUM FLAT WHEN STORING* I can NOT emphasize this enough. Storing it upright (like you would put a book on a bookshelf) can cause damage to the spine, it can cause pages to shift, and contribute to other issues. We highly suggest storing it flat, in a protective cover or a custom made box that can be purchased below if interested!
